Aviat Award

Each November, as we reflect on gratitude and thanksgiving, OLGC recognizes teachers who embody the spirit of St. Leonie Aviat in their commitment as faith-filled, dedicated Catholic School teachers.

This award is made in honor of Elizabeth White, OLGC Graduate and former OLGC 2nd grade teacher, who is remembered for her vivacious laugh and infectious smile.

Even more, she is honored by those who follow in the example she set through her daily actions. Described as the embodiment of faith, hope, and perseverance, Elizabeth followed in the example of St. Leonie Aviat in her dedication to education and spirit of service. She truly embodied the Salesian call to “be who you are and be that perfectly well.” An OLGC Graduate, she came back home to serve as a member of our dedicated faculty.  She brought to that role love for her community, her colleagues, her students, and most importantly, her faith.  Elizabeth understood that the decision to teach in a Catholic school was one that required certain sacrifices, especially for those who were just starting out.  It was her dream to find a way to help those like her to offset the many expenses associated with living and serving in our great community.

To celebrate the memory of Elizabeth and her love for OLGC, two teachers will be selected as award winners based on nominations from the entire Our Lady of Good Counsel community.

To nominate a teacher, please fill out the form below.  A committee will review nominations, and award winners will be selected.  The award winners will receive a generous monetary award to celebrate the Season of Thanksgiving in a way that will make a difference to them and their families

Thank you to all of our fantastic faculty and staff for the gifts they continue to share with the OLGC Community every day.
