Congratulations and thank you for your support, with your help we were able to raise $770 towards the purchase of the soccer goals for our upper hill.  They were installed on Tuesday and the children are super excited!  We will be working on shifts in the recess plans now to allow all of our children to benefit from this exciting addition.  Thank you so very much!

Don't forget tomorrow's Out of Uniform Day will be sponsored by the Axeen family from last year's auction.  Your children are allowed to wear their favorite pants/shorts and sweatshirts/t-shirts thanks to their generosity!

As we continue to move forward with our plans during these challenging times, we would like to gauge potential interest in our OLGC Summer Fun Camp. This would be ONLY open to OLGC rising first through fifth graders from June 16-18 and June 21-25.  If you might be interested, please email if your family might be interested.  Space will be limited due to COVID protocols so please reach out quickly!

Please remember if you are picking up your child early, you must do so before 2:30pm.  If you are running late, we unfortunately cannot have students leaving between 2:30pm and 3:00pm due to the staff constraints and safety concerns when the cars have begun pulling in for carpool at 2:00pm.  Your help and understanding is greatly appreciated.

Finally, ending on a positive note.  Please join me in congratulating Miss Gemma Pearson who is happy to announce that she got engaged over spring break. She hopes that COVID will continue to get better, and she is planning for an October wedding.  We wish her and her fiancé the very best!

Enjoy the weekend.

Dear OLGC Parents,

I want to take this opportunity to express to all of you, what an absolute honor it is to be nominated for the Washingtonian magazine's Excellence in Nursing Awards. Today, in their May issue, I am one of the 50 nurses chosen this year. I was selected because of the wonderful things you said about me. I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from all of you. This year has been full of challenges and changes, and you have been so phenomenally generous and supportive. I truly feel like this award is your award too. It is an award for our whole community which champions the success of our students every day. Thank you for nominating me and honoring me in this way. It means so much and I will forever be grateful. -- AIR HUGS Nurse Bliven

Clinic News:  Today at afternoon carpool, we will be handing out an information sheet from Children’s Hospital of Richmond about isolation verses quarantining.  That information and tips on How To Wear A Mask are also posted on the Clinic page of our website:  These information sheets are great to reference for topics such as what to do if some of your family is vaccinated but not everyone, what to do while you awaiting Covid testing results, and how to help our students emotionally during this pandemic. Students are already seeing the How to Wear a Mask posters in every classroom as a constant reminder to keep their masks up, over their mouth and nose. On the clinic website will also be a printable coloring book and a sheet about how to make mask wearing fun for kids. Too often we get bombarded with so much information it is hard to sort through every detail and remember it all.  We want to provide that information in a place parents can easily access when they need to check information available. I am always available to answer your questions also.  Nurse Jennifer Bliven (
