We hope everyone had a great spring break and a blessed Easter but we are so happy to be back on campus with our students!  Spring brings lots of events for our children as the school year winds down.  Please mark your calendars as we will have the rescheduled Soccer Goal Dress Down Day this Monday, April 19th.  For a minimum of a $1 donation, students can opt not to wear their school uniform that day, shorts are permitted now during summer uniform, but make sure to follow the rules in the handbook for our of uniform days.  We encourage you to wear your favorite sports jersey if possible.  The Student Council thanks you in advance for your support!  In addition, please note that due to the generosity of the Axeen family at last year's auction, the students may have an out of uniform day to wear t-shirts and shorts of their choice (still following handbook guidelines) on Friday, April 23rd.

Every year around this time we let you know of staff changes that are taking place for the upcoming school year.  Please note the following changes taking place for the 2021-2022 school year:

Please join me in thanking the tireless efforts of Mrs. Beverly Colson who will be retiring at the end of August.  She has given countless hours each and every week for 23 years to the entire Our Lady of Good Counsel community and we will miss her terribly.  We wish her fun-filled times visiting with her family and friends in the years to come.  We will certainly be celebrating her time with us at some point in the future so please stay on the lookout for more details on those plans as we have them.

Mrs. Carolyn Holden will be transitioning into the role as Administrative Assistant and will be training with Mrs. Colson over the summer in preparation for the new year.  Mrs. Holden has been a long-time member of our community and will be a great addition to the main office.  Mrs. Sharon Hallahan will remain as part of our administrative staff and will continue to be the welcoming face at the front receptionist desk area as well.

After 4 years at OLGC, Miss Megan Jones has accepted an elementary teaching position at Charlottesville Catholic School for the upcoming year. She says, "While I am excited for this new adventure and opportunity, it is bittersweet to say goodbye to a community that has helped me to grow into the educator that I am today. With my family in the area, this is certainly not a “goodbye,” but rather a “see you later.” You will all be in my prayers. Live Jesus!"

Unfortunately, I wanted to let you know that our counselor, Ms. Amy Beharrylal is relocating and leaving the area in August to be closer to family, and thus will be resigning from OLGC effective the end of this school year.  We thank her for her service to the OLGC community and wish her all of the best!

Mrs. Laurie Magill, who has served as an instructional assistant for the current 5th graders this year and the 4th graders last year has decided to move on in the upcoming year.  We are so appreciative of her help these past two years, particularly during challenging times, and for providing consistency to our students with amazing patience and grace for our children.  We wish her the very best!

Please join me in thanking Mrs. Raelene Sok for stepping up in the 1st grade teaching role this January.  She has done a great job and we look forward to her continued help at OLGC in the future!  Mrs. Carey Hitchcock will be returning to her position over at Preschool in the new year.  Mrs. Holly Orr will be switching from her role at Preschool to become one of our 1st grade teachers.  She has 9 years experience teaching first grade and we are so glad to have her moving into this position!  Mrs. Julianne Bourne  will be switching from her role as a 4th grade teacher to become our other 1st grade teacher.

We welcome, Ms. Banick who will join us as one of our 4th grade teachers this fall.  She comes to us with over 17 years of teaching experience, many of them within schools in the Diocese of Arlington.  We are thrilled to have her join our community in this new role!

Thank you for your continued support, enjoy the spring weather!

Adrianne Jewett, Principal
