Be who you are and be that well

Welcome to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School which has a long standing reputation for academic excellence and a caring environment which facilitates learning and spiritual, social, emotional and physical growth.

Dear OLGC Community,

We are sending this Wildcat Weekly a day early as we don't want to interrupt your Thanksgiving holiday with your family, but we want to express our gratitude for so many things.  We hope the students all enjoyed the Thanksgiving Mass yesterday, and we are grateful for all of the hard work our kindergarten students put in to make it a truly special Mass.  Thank you to Mrs. Sudduth and Mr. Jones, as well as all of our Turkey Shoot participants, who entertained all of us with a modified version of this competitive tradition.  Congratulations to our winners, and thank you to everyone who joined in with their Wildcat Spirit yesterday!  Finally, thank you to everyone who contributed Thanksgiving dinners to those in need.  What a generous community we have at OLGC, we are truly blessed!  Please go to our social media platforms on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, all linked on the school website, to see all the wonderful things that have been going on at OLGC School!

We wish you a wonderful holiday break, and look forward to seeing everyone on Monday, November 29th.  The teachers have worked hard to allow students to work in a hybrid format on the 29th and 30th, if necessary, and will work with you and your family if you need to quarantine after travel.  Please reach out to our teachers if you have any questions.  As always, we appreciate your help in trying to keep our community safe.  We are excited to start our 2nd trimester when we return from this short break, and report cards will go home with students on Friday, December 3rd.  In addition, our 8th graders will be taking their High School Placement Test on Thursday, December 2nd. We will all keep them in our prayers as they have been preparing for quite some time.

Finally, to provide a bit of clarification, we are currently accepting new applications for any new students for the next school year.  We will be reaching out about re-registration for current students soon, but if you have any siblings who are not currently enrolled that you wish to join us next year, please complete the application process for them as soon as possible.  Our current students, including our preschoolers, will be letting us know their intentions to stay enrolled and continue into the next grade (Kindergarten for our current 4-year-old Wee Wildcats), shortly.  If anyone has any specific questions about enrollment, please reach out to Mrs. Holden.

Thank you for being a valued member of our OLGC community, and for all you do to help make this such a special place. We wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving - stay safe, healthy, and have a great time celebrating!  Feel free to perform the Turkey Tango with your families, too.

Adrianne Jewett, Principal

Catholic Charities “We Care Week” November 29th - December 3rd:  “We Care Week” is the week where we focus on making small sacrifices to help make a big impact for those who are less fortunate in our local community! Last year, the monies raised by schools in our Diocese helped Catholic Charities provide countless services to those in need in Northern Virginia.  This year, we will be accepting monetary donations on Monday, November 29th through Friday, December 3rd.  In exchange for this monetary donation, your child/children will be allowed to dress out of uniform on Friday, December 3rd.  Please make sure all students follow the out of uniform dress code policy.  Please send your donation of at least $1 in with your child on Friday, December 3rd.
