Dear OLGC Community,

November is such a wonderful and busy time of the year, and this year is no different.  Things may look and feel a little different, but we are grateful for the many blessings we all have.  I am so proud to be part of this amazing OLGC community!

Please note that the entire school may participate in a Wildcat Spirit Day next Tuesday, November 23rd in honor of our 2021 Turkey Shoot!  We are sorry that no parents can join us this year, but we will try to take many pictures and some video, if possible, to share with all of you later on.

As you know, we had an Open House for prospective families this past weekend.  We are also ready to begin the enrollment process for siblings of current students.  We have moved to an online application process this year.  Please see the announcement below for the link to complete and submit your application, and tuition deposit.

We would like to start a new tradition this year, with your help.  We would love to have our OLGC families help decorate our school Christmas tree by trimming with your family Christmas card or photo from this year or years past.  If you would like to participate, please send one in to the main office with your child, so we can begin trimming our tree after Thanksgiving!

We are asking you to partner with us at home to help our children understand that there is no need for any of them to talk about their views on vaccines, or their vaccination status.  We respect that as parents you are going to make the best decision for you and your family.  Please reinforce this with your children, as we do not want any child to feel uncomfortable with comments here at school for things outside of their control.

I am sure everyone is looking forward to the Thanksgiving break beginning on Wednesday, November 24th, and appreciate your kind consideration of safety and health for all when we return to school.  As always, please direct any specific questions to Nurse Bliven or administration, and we will do our best to help.

Finally, don't forget to drop off your Thanksgiving baskets on Tuesday, November 23rd.  We will follow the inclement weather morning carpool procedures on November 23rd to accommodate the basket drop off.  Please do not give your dinner basket to any staff members during morning carline, as they will be collected in the upper parking lot.  If you signed up for a Thanksgiving Dinner Basket, you will be contacted separately with directions for basket drop off.

Thanks,

Adrianne Jewett, Principal

Please see the following announcement from Mrs. Williams:

Catholic Charities “We Care Week” is scheduled for the week of November 29th - December 3rd.  “We Care Week” is the week where we focus on making small sacrifices to help make a big impact for those who are less fortunate in our local community!

Last year, the monies raised by schools in our Diocese helped Catholic Charities provide countless services to those in need in Northern Virginia.  This year, we will be accepting monetary donations on Monday, November 29th through Friday, December 3rd.  In exchange for this monetary donation, your child/children will be allowed to dress out of uniform on Friday, December 3rd.  Please make sure all students follow the out of uniform dress code policy.

Please send your donation of at least $1 in with your child on Friday, December 3rd.

Thank you for your generosity!

Robin Williams, Assistant Principal
