A K-8 Blue Ribbon School in Vienna, VA

Be who you are and be that well

Welcome to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School which has a long standing reputation for academic excellence and a caring environment which facilitates learning and spiritual, social, emotional and physical growth.

You guys…I have gone down the rabbit hole of Hallmark’s “Countdown to Christmas” movies.  It’s totally the “where are they now” of 90’s Teen Beat stars.  I have been IMDbing actors…I’m in deep y’all.  I have no idea why I keep watching, as if the endings will ever be different!  But here I stand after wasting hours of my life, finding myself wanting more Candice Cameron Bure…

I know that’s not the real world, but sometimes we need a mental escape.  Taking mental breaks is especially important right now.  Ok...so maybe pick something more constructive, but be sure to do it for yourself every day.  Things will only get busier, so take that moment!

It’s gonna be a week, y’all!  We will miss out on hot lunch this week because of the holiday, BUT maybe instead treat a local vet to a hot lunch!  Please find a way to honor our country’s veterans.

Also, don’t forget the many ways listed below to support our community and those in need this holiday season.  Thanksgiving Dinner Drive & Joy of Christmas Giving are around the corner, so get to signing up!

Lastly, Pizza!  Pizza!  Check out the dining for dollars for this month.  My kid will most likely get pizza both days and maybe in her lunchbox the following week.  Win!  Win!

Have a great week…and stay away from the Hallmark Channel, y’all!  Trust me!

Be well,

Celeste Flores, PTO President

  • REMINDER OLGC’S 8th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner Drive 11/23: This month's outreach drive is the 8th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner Drive.  In these unprecedented times, our dedication to these local families is greatly appreciated.  Last year, with the extraordinary generosity of the OLGC community, we provided 252 Thanksgiving Dinners. Due to the ongoing impact of the pandemic, we will continue to be supporting 4 local Fairfax County Public Schools and OLGC's Society of St. Vincent DePaul. What makes the dinner drive so special is that each basket is unique to the family that creates the box.  Please use this SignUpGenius link to signup to provide a dinner and for details of what should be in the basket. Drop off date for dinners will be Tuesday, 11/23.  Details will be sent to those who signup.

Donations must be non-perishable and non-glass.  Low-sugar, low-salt, and high-fiber foods are especially welcome for area food banks and pantries, such as Capital Area Food bank and Food for Others.  Scouting for Food is one of the largest food drives in the metropolitan area and aims to draw 1 million pounds of sustenance for needy people.  OLGC Scouts have collected more than 2,000 pounds of food in past years.  Please do your part to help the less fortunate.  For more information, send an email here.
