I feel blessed to have had the privilege of joining our 8th graders, Mrs. Williams, and Mr. McDonald along with all of the 8th graders in our Diocese at All Saints Catholic Church on Tuesday. The annual Vocations Mass focused on the theme of "Go Forth Called and Chosen" and it was an amazing event as always. It was wonderful to hear the entire congregation signing and chanting "Our God is good, ALL THE TIME" over and over. What a wonderful reminder as we enter the Lenten season.
Just a reminder that we have an 11:30 dismissal tomorrow after our International Day festivities for a teacher workday and students are off on Monday for a professional development day. Our second trimester also ends tomorrow so please look for report cards to come home next Friday. In the meantime, please join us for the Fish Fry events on Friday nights beginning tomorrow as well!
Finally, please remember that we will not be dismissing students after 2:30 pm on any school day due to the issues it causes with afternoon dismissal. If you must pick your child up early please make sure it is before 2:30 and that you let the child's teacher know so we can have them packed and ready for you when you arrive. If it is a last minute change, please call the attendance line or front office and we will do our best to get everyone notified with sufficient time. We appreciate your support with this endeavor!

"Lent is a fitting time for self-denial; we would do well to ask ourselves what we can give up in order to help and enrich others by our own poverty." – Pope Francis
This Lent our school is participating in CRS Rice Bowl Lenten drive, a faith-in-action program that helps families experience Lenten spirituality by living in solidarity with people in need around the world. Your youngest child should have already the collection bowl. If you haven't seen it yet, please ask them about it!
Recommendation on three simple ways to bring Lent alive in your home with the CRS RICE BOWL:
• Place your CRS Rice Bowl in a prominent place in your home and use it to collect your Lenten sacrifices.
• Read the Lenten calendar reflections each day as a family.
• Visit crsricebowl.org to find videos and family activities, or take Lent outside of the bowl and download the CRS Rice Bowl app on your iOS or Android device.
Please know that participation in this drive is completely voluntary! We thank you in advance for your consideration in participating. We will be collecting all Rice Bowls before we leave for Spring Break – on Monday, April 15th, Tuesday, April 16th and Wednesday April 17th.
Again, thank you for your continued support in our outreach programs!

Lenten Ice Cream "Sacrifice" in support of International Day Community Service: Students for International Day on March 8th will be learning more about national parks around the world and our own local national park, Wolf Trap. They will connect their understanding to Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Home. To bring the global truly local, the OLGC Student Council will be donating a tree to the Town of Vienna Parks and Recreation Department in the school's name. To fund this donation, we are asking students to continue to bring in money for ice cream on Tuesdays during Lent, however they will have the option to put that money in a container marked for donating rather than buy ice cream. Students are welcome to bring money both to donate and to purchase ice cream. We will begin collecting donations next Tuesday, March 5th (Mardi Gras) and continue through Lent. This is purely voluntary.
Lost & Found! We currently have 30 winter jackets and hoodies, an Under Armour lunch box, over 15 water bottles, a few OLGC small sweatshirts, and various other clothing items. Please check the clothing rack in the Counsel Rm for these items soon. If not claimed they will be donated to charity.
Reregistration Reminders were sent last week. Link to pay tuition deposit is https://membership.faithdirect.net/events/details/2447
