PTO Chatter 12/6/18

Dear Families,

Happy Advent and Happy December! I hope you are all enjoying this great season with all its joys and busyness and still finding some quiet time to prepare for the light and peace of Christ's coming at Christmas.

On Friday we brought our final Piggy Bank Fund to a close. Thank you all for your tremendous generosity to this program that provides Christmas bonuses to our faculty and staff. We raised nearly $20,000, a staggering amount. We had a huge goal this year, and I can't thank you enough for getting us so close to it.

As we said a final and forever good-bye to the Piggy Bank, we ushered in this weekend the new Wildcat Fund. The Wildcat Fund is our new School Annual Fund which will support initiatives to develop and retain our teachers (such as Christmas bonuses), need-based scholarships, and special physical, technological, and security needs of the School. We had a great kick-off weekend, and the campaign will run through the end of March. We will continue to update you on the campaign's progress, and committee members will reach out to each of you individually to answer any questions you might have. In the meantime, please contact me if you have any questions about the Wildcat Fund (or anything else).

By the time you read this, many of our children should have enjoyed our Mix Major assembly. Thanks to your support of PTO programs such as dining for dollars and Bingo, the PTO can provide special programming to our students. Stay tuned for news about the upcoming preschool assembly and our spring assembly.

Finally, we can have our March 1st Variety Show only if we can find someone (or someones) to run it. The PTO Board will certainly support those who run this event, but we do need someone to take ownership of it. If you or your children love the Variety Show and want the show to go on this year, please contact me or Alona Fayer.

Peace,

Beth

As a community, we are each called to offer our time, talent, and treasure in many ways. What steps will you take to answer that call? How will you give back?
Cultivating faith while achieving academic excellence is a tradition at OLGC. Teachers challenge students to become confident, faith-filled, life-long learners, transforming them into the leaders of tomorrow.

Our Call to Holiness – Now What - Salesian Advent Morning of Reflection December 15, 2018 9:00am - 12:00noon St. Francis De Sales called all men and women to pursue holiness in accordance with their state in life and vocation. He understood that holiness can look different, depending upon that state in life and vocation. However, all holy people all look like Jesus, because Jesus begins to live His very life in and through them. He also emphasized that growing in holiness requires our continual and free cooperation with the grace of God. Join together with other members of the OLGC Community in DeSales Hall to explore through prayer and presentations, how our lives can reflect the holiness to which we are all called.
