Happy Second Week of Advent!
Thank you to Tina Wickham for again organizing our school's Giving Tree and Adopt-A-Family programs. The middle school's Adopt-a-Family program again benefits the Arlington Diocese's Migration and Refugee Services. I am always deeply touched by the stories of these families, who like the Holy Family, have fled their homelands for a safe haven, and who we now have the opportunity to help. My daughter's home room has been asked to assist a young Afghan widow, whose husband lost his life fighting with U.S. troops in Afghanistan. She is now here, safe, finishing high school at 22, and looking forward to college and perhaps a career in nursing. I imagine her strength and sadness in leaving all she has known, and I pray that she finds here a bright future of peace, joy, and the love of a supportive community.
If your students enjoyed the Mix Major Assembly last week and you'd like to learn more about music technology and music technology education, here is a link to Eric Jao's you tube channel for music technology education: .
Eric was very impressed by our students; especially how supportive they were of each other. That's always nice to hear!
Enjoy this time of preparation for Christmas!

Our Call to Holiness – Now What - Salesian Advent Morning of Reflection December 15, 2018 9:00am - 12:00noon St. Francis De Sales called all men and women to pursue holiness in accordance with their state in life and vocation. He understood that holiness can look different, depending upon that state in life and vocation. However, all holy people all look like Jesus, because Jesus begins to live His very life in and through them. He also emphasized that growing in holiness requires our continual and free cooperation with the grace of God. Join together with other members of the OLGC Community in De Sales Hall to explore through prayer and presentations, how our lives can reflect the holiness to which we are all called.
