In February 2018, Fatima Jerez, a senior at Madison High School and an OLGC Alumnae, Class of 2014, lead a Lunch & Learn session about Plan International USA for ALEX AND ANI staff to share her role with Plan and their partnership's impact. Fatima is a Youth Advisory Board Member for Plan and works alongside inspirational youth to make an impact and support Plan's mission.
Fatima is originally from Nicaragua and moved to the U.S. in 2011. After her move, she was inspired to raise awareness about the difficulties that youth endure around the world. In 2014, she started a project called "Tied Together," through which she collected essential items for girls and delivered them to a community in Nicaragua. As a sophomore in high school she started a club with UNICEF called "Change for Children," educating the student body about global issues. She attended Plan's first Youth Leadership Academy in the summer of 2016 and was amazed by everyone's passion and determination. She joined the YAB in 2017 and is excited to work
