Speaker at the 2014 Middle School Parent Informational Night - I thank Mr. Poole for having confidence in me and for inviting me to speak this evening. I am currently a freshman at Gonzaga College High School. I attended OLGC from Kindergarten through 8th grade and I believe OLGC prepared me very well for high school.
I thank Mr. Poole for having confidence in me and for inviting me to speak this evening. I am currently a freshman at Gonzaga College High School.
I attended OLGC from Kindergarten through 8th grade and I believe OLGC prepared me very well for high school.
In Middle School at OLGC, we moved from class to class, we had lockers and we were responsible for making sure we had all our books and materials for class on our own. Each subject class was separate from the other which is more like the high school format.
Being in a school with younger students helps build leadership qualities through interactions like the Student Council, prayer partners and spirit week. The traditions and responsibilities that OLGC Middle School students have made the time more enjoyable and also prepared me for High School. I learned time management skills and the homework load was equivalent to high school.
The teachers at OLGC take an interest in each individual student, and challenge them to their full capacity. The teachers get to know you, build strong relationships with you and give you what they know you can handle.
When teacher recommendations for High School came around I knew they would be able to describe me in the best way possible. Also having a solid relationship with an adult can give you confidence to speak with other adults and your new teachers in high school.
Compared to other students at Gonzaga I see that I'm more prepared because I can manage homework more easily, I participate fully in class, and I am able to participate in after school sports and activities due to my time management skills learned at OLGC.
I enjoyed my time at OLGC and especially appreciate the education and the teachers. I hope your children can experience what a difference OLGC is.
