Welcome to Our Lady of Good Counsel School!

Thank you for your interest in joining our community at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School. Students who desire an educational experience founded on the Catholic philosophy of education and who fulfill the age, health, academic, and behavioral requirements are eligible for admission to OLGC School.

General Conditions of Admission: A student is admitted to the school on the premise the student intends to learn the Catholic religion and be educated in a Catholic environment. We ordinarily assess and screen all applicants for readiness and placement into OLGC Catholic School. These assessments take place in the spring for the upcoming school year. Students with academic or other needs (i.e. behavioral), which cannot be reasonably addressed by the school, may be denied admission.

In certain cases, students may be admitted on a probationary basis subject to the student successfully completing one or more subsequent interim evaluations.

Our Lady of Good Counsel School uses a 100% online application process, including application fee and tuition deposit payment. We do not accept paper applications and/or checks.

Fall Open House

Attending the Open House is the best way to meet our teachers, administrators, current students, and parents. Tours will be given at both the Preschool and Kindergarten - 8th Grade School. No prior registration is needed.
If you missed our November 16th open house but would like a school tour, please email admissions@olgcschool.org.

How to Apply

Preschool Applicants

Note: preschool students must be at least 3 years of age by September 30 of the year the child enters preschool

A preschool application is initiated when the following are submitted:

Preschool Online Application<--link, including an uploaded copy of the birth certificate (original must be presented to school personnel for verification once the child is accepted)
Non-refundable $100 application fee<--link (per child) payable through our secure site ParishSOFT

A preschool application package is complete when the following supplemental items are submitted to admissions@olgcschool.org:

PK4-1st grade applicant Evaluation Form<--link (Download, fill out page 1 only, then email file to child's current school to complete pages 2-5. They will email completed file directly to admissions@olgcschool.org.) Not applicable for PK3 applicants.
Copy of baptismal certificate (if applicable)
Current copy of your child’s vaccine history (immunization report)
Proof of Custody/Custody Papers (if applicable)
Copy of an IEP, 504 Plan, SAP, or Child Study document (if applicable)
Physical (VA Form MCH-213G<--link or other state equivalent) required by August 1. "Date of Assessment" on page 4 must be within the previous 365 days of the start of the school year.

K - 8th Grade Applicants

Note: kindergarten applicants must be 5 years of age by September 30 of the year the child enters Kindergarten

Required Health Documents & Immunizations

IMMUNIZATIONS & HEALTH PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION

Our Lady of Good Counsel School’s admission policy related to vaccines and state health assessments is as follows: Completed Commonwealth of Virginia School Entrance Health Form MCH213G is required by August 1^st of the year of enrollment. "Date of Assessment" on page 4 must be within the previous 365 days of the start of the school year per Virginia Department of Health and Department of Education regulations. A current copy of your child’s vaccine history (immunization report) is a required part of the application package. We recognize additional vaccines may be needed before the start of the school year, but we utilize the most current copy to verify the student is current with their school required vaccines to date. We, at OLGC, will not accept students for admission with religious or personal exemptions from the Commonwealth of Virginia required school vaccinations. Medical exemptions for vaccination will be accepted with physician documentation of medical reason for delayed schedule or inability to vaccinate. We will not be able to complete the admission process until the vaccine report is received by our admission’s office. Please direct any questions regarding the vaccination policy to the school nurse.

Summary of current Virginia State Requirements for vaccination for school admission: Minimum Immunization Requirements:

Three (3) hepatitis B vaccine (HepB).
Three (3) diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid, and acellular pertussis vaccine (Dtap). One dose shall be administered on or after the fourth birthday. Booster dose (Tdap) shall be administered prior to entry into the seventh grade.
Two or three primary doses of Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) vaccine
Two (2) live attenuated measles (rubeola), mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine.
Two (2) varicella vaccine.
Three (3) or more polio vaccine (IPV). One dose shall be administered on or after the fourth birthday.
One to four doses, pneumococcal conjugate (PCV).
Two (2) hepatitis A vaccine (HAV).
Meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MenACWY). The first dose shall be administered prior to entry to seventh grade.

Human Papillomavirus Vaccine (HPV): Effective July 1, 2021, a complete series of 2 doses of HPV vaccine is required for all students both male and female. The first dose shall be administered before the child enters the 7th grade. After reviewing educational materials approved by the Board of Health, the parent or guardian, at the parent’s or guardian’s sole discretion, may elect for the child not to receive the HPV vaccine.

School Happenings

The rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school are extended to all students who are admitted.
