Professional Background
I taught first grade in Arlington County for 5 years before making the decision to stay home with my young children. I was a stay at home mom for 13 years, busy raising 4 kids. In that time I also taught pre-school part-time, tutored elementary and middle school students, was very involved in their school and PTA and more recently, taught Pilates. My love for teaching has always stayed with me. I am so happy to now be in my second year teaching 3rd grade at OLGC. This is a wonderful school and community.
Faith in Action
My faith has always been important to me. It helps me stay centered and focused in my life ad also when handling the different needs of all the students I have in my classroom. I believe that if we put God first, everything else falls into place. If we focus on being kind and loving to all and trying our best then not only are we successful as individuals but we help our classmates and community be successful. Its important to me that students understand that God made us all uniquely with different strengths and weaknesses so that we learn to help each other and honor those differences.
Favorite Teaching Moment
There are many favorite moments, but one that stands out is seeing how proud my third graders were to present their state reports that they had worked so hard on most of the year to parents and the school community at our state fair day in May.
Favorite Food
Seafood and dark chocolate
Favorite Activity Outside of School
Spending time with family, watching my kids play sports, running and walking my dog, and going to the beach
