Professional Background
I started my teaching career in 2001 as a 5th grade teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools. Since then, I have been an elementary school classroom teacher for 14 years and have taught grades 3-6. Prior to that, I had spent my whole life thinking I was going to become a lawyer. God had other plans for me when I discovered my passion for teaching during a volunteer tutoring opportunity in SE Washington, DC so I changed career plans. While I have spent the past four years staying at home to focus on my family, I look forward to the opportunity to return to teaching and to becoming a part of the OLGC school community.
Faith in Action
As a teacher, I am thankful to be given the opportunity to make a positive difference in children’s lives. I strive to encourage kindness, respect, and confidence. I believe it is so important to have a strong faith and I look forward to sharing that through my teaching each day.
Favorite Teaching Moment
My favorite teaching moment is enjoying the classroom community I’ve created for my students. I always want to make them feel supported, safe, and excited to be at school, and it melts my heart when I see them look out for each other and show acts of kindness.
Favorite Food
My favorite food is sushi.
Favorite Activity Outside of School
I love to play tennis, exercise, and spend time with my 3 children, husband, and chocolate lab Kane.
Fun Fact About Me
I lived in Australia for 4 months and got the opportunity to scuba dive in the Great Barrier Reef (where I almost sat on a shark).
