Professional Background
This is my fourth year as a resource teacher at Our Lady of Good Counsel, and I feel incredibly blessed to be part of such a wonderful community. I began my teaching career in 2001 as a 5th-grade teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools. Over the years, I’ve taught grades 3-6 as an elementary classroom teacher for 14 years. I am trained in Orton-Gillingham and have a strong background in math instruction.
Initially, I had planned to become a lawyer, but my path changed after a volunteer tutoring opportunity in SE Washington, DC sparked my passion for teaching. Since then, I’ve been grateful to follow this calling, dedicated to empowering students in their academic journeys.
Faith in Action
As a teacher, I am thankful to be given the opportunity to make a positive difference in children’s lives. I strive to encourage kindness, respect, and confidence. I believe it is so important to have a strong faith and I look forward to sharing that through my teaching each day.
Favorite Teaching Moment
My favorite teaching moments are watching those "lightbulbs go off" when my students finally understand a concept that has been challenging for them. I love watching them grow and become confident learners.
Favorite Food
My favorite food is sushi.
Favorite Activity Outside of School
My favorite activities outside school are playing tennis, travelling with my family, and watching my children play sports.
Fun Fact About Me
I lived in Australia for 4 months and got the opportunity to scuba dive in the Great Barrier Reef (where I almost sat on a shark).
