I have taught fifth grade for seven years. I attended Santa Clara University through a teaching program called “Excellence in Catholic Education and Leadership (ExCEL)”. There, I was immediately engulfed in the teaching world starting as a full-time homeroom teacher right off the bat, while earning my masters at the same time. Without any prior teaching experience, I was able to quickly learn the ropes and apply what I was learning in my classes right away, along with great support from my administration and colleagues. My love for teaching has grown each year and I am so blessed to be working with fifth graders here at OLGC!
My faith is at the center of my life and I enjoy being able to share that with my students. I attended Catholic schools growing up and strive to integrate faith across curriculum and into daily routines just like my teachers did for me. I rely on the amazing “power of prayer” and encourage my students to do so as well!
I love when students are able to apply their learned knowledge to the “real world” and get excited about it. One of my favorite moments each year is through a fraction recipe project where students present their work and celebrate the end of our fraction unit and hard work with fun food.
