Professional Background
I began my teaching career in 1996 teaching 5th grade at St. Mary's School in Alexandria, VA. After a couple of years, I took some time off from teaching so that I could be a stay at home mom. God had other plans for me though, as l happened into an office job to help s friend as the company she was at was restructuring. What was to be a temporary job led into something more permanent, so much so, that I decided to pursue my Masters in Business Administration. After several years working in Finance and Accounting roles along with a couple of breaks to stay home with my children, I knew something was still missing. Fortunately, I was able to find my way back to my original passion of teaching and find a home here at OLGC. During my tenure at OLGC, I taught 5th grade for seven years before being asked to move up to teach Middle School English in 2020..
Faith in Action
I love that I am able to talk about God everyday in my job. It's always nice when we can openly discuss and practice our faith as a Catholic community. In class, we often discuss how God impacts our life and look for the ways we can see Him daily through everyone we encounter.
Favorite Teaching Moment
For me, I love when I can see that "ah-ha" moment when a child who has struggled with a concept finally understands. The joy in their eyes brings joy to my heart.
Favorite Food
This would probably be a tie between Italian and Mexican. Yummy!
Favorite Activity Outside of School
I love travelling as well as going to cheer on my Dukes at JMU football games or taking in a Washington Nationals baseball game.
Fun Fact About Me
I am deathly afraid of going up escalators. I do not have a problem riding them down, but going up is a another story!
