I am a retired Navy Captain with 30 years of service on active duty and in the Reserves. As an Intelligence Officer I have served with air, surface, and subsurface forces from coast to coast. The Navy has taken me to many workplaces like Bermuda, Hawaii, Spain, Germany, Crete, and South Korea!
Faith in Action
I joined the Navy to protect and defend our American freedoms, which includes freedom of religion. However, that was not enough -- we cannot prevent war and conflict or advance peace and justice only at the adult level. Early education is my focus now because we can more effectively make a lasting difference by teaching our children the Good News of God's love for all and educating them so they become leaders who can put faith into action.
Favorite Teaching Moment
One of my favorite teaching moments is when an enthusiastic student called out: "Watch! I can read with my eyes closed!"
