Professional Background
I graduated from St. Francis College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. I worked for 6 years selling fine printing paper for Zellerbach Paper Company. After marrying my college sweetheart, Kevin Williams, in 1992 I moved to Vienna, Virginia. After the birth of our first child I became a dedicated stay-at-home mother and enjoyed the many years at home with our 4 children, McKenzie, Joey, Tommy and Bobby. In 2005, when our twin sons (Tommy and Bobby) were entering elementary school, I enrolled in the University of Virginia's Alternative Route to Teaching Licensure Program. Through this program, I earned my teaching certificate. I have been a part of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School's faculty since 2004. It's been a wonderful experience! I began my career here as the First Grade aide, moved to Second Grade as the lead teacher in 2005 where I taught for six years, then taught Middle School Religion for 9 years. In 2018 I became a part of the administration team as the assistant principal. I really enjoyed the role of assistant principal and working along side our amazing faculty and staff. In 2022, when our former principal had resigned, I applied to fill the open position. I am honored to now serve as the principal of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School. I thank God everyone morning that I get to work in this amazing community! I am blessed to be surrounded by faculty, staff, students and their families who actively LIVE JESUS in their daily lives!!!
Faith in Action
I put my faith in action by striving to learn, live, love and serve others and to live Jesus throughout my daily life. Empowered with the knowledge that I am a beloved daughter of God, I will do my best to BE LOVE to our community as well as our global community.
Favorite Teaching Moment
My favorite teaching moment was when I asked the students to write down every person in their lives that challenged them in some way. When the students asked if they could fill up both sides of the paper, I said, "absolutely". When they finished writing I asked them to write the gift that God was trying to give them next to the persons name. Is the gift God trying to give you understanding, patience, compassion, empathy? There was a quite hush that fell upon the room and one student commented, "Wow! I get it! This was an awesome lesson, Mrs. Williams" As a teacher you don't often receive that type of affirmation, but when you do, it's powerful!
Favorite Food
There isn't a food that I don't like!
Favorite Activity Outside of School
Pickleball, golf, tennis, walking on the beach!
Fun Fact About Me
I was inducted into my high school's Hall of Fame for the sport of basketball!
