Professional Background
I graduated from St. Francis College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and worked for 6 years selling fine printing paper for Zellerbach Paper Company. After marrying my college sweetheart, Kevin Williams, in 1992 I moved to Vienna, Virginia. After the birth of our first child I became a dedicated stay-at-home mother and enjoyed the years at home with our 4 children, McKenzie, Joey, Tommy and Bobby. In 2005, when my twin sons were entering elementary school, I entered the University of Virginia's Alternative Route to Licensure Program and earned my teaching certificate. I have been teaching at Our Lady of Good Counsel since 2004. I started as the First Grade aide, moved to Second Grade as the lead teacher in 2005 where I taught for six years, then taught Middle School Religion. I feel blessed to be working with the youth of our parish and feel equally blessed to be surrounded with other teaching professionals who actively LIVE JESUS throughout the school day and continually bring the LIGHT of CHRIST to the students of our school.
Favorite Teaching Moment
My favorite teaching moment was when I was trying to find a "kid-friendly" definition for purgatory. I asked the students for help. One student raised her hand and said, "Mrs. Williams, I think of purgatory as being a gift - a time when we can truly make up for the things we did wrong and after doing so we will be able to look Jesus right in the eyes - and we will have a really big smile on our face!" Out of the mouths of students - so touching, so beautifully said.
Favorite Food
Anything Mexican!
Favorite Activity Outside of School
Watching my children play sports, finding sharks' teeth while walking to Calvert Cliffs in Prince Frederick, Maryland and playing cornhole in the Dunn Loring Corn Hole League
Fun Fact About Me
I played basketball for the Academy of the Holy Cross Tartans. We won 115 straight games and I was inducted into its Hall of Fame in January 2012 for this accomplishment.
