Wildcat Weekly 9/7

Byline: From: Mrs. Jewett, Principal

Dear Parents,

I am so impressed and humbled by the generosity of our entire OLGC community! Together, at Mass yesterday, we were able to collect an impressive $2,008 to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey. As always I am proud of our entire community, especially the way we work together to help others in need and during times of trouble. Thank you for your generosity and kindness. Please continue to join me in prayer to show our continued support for those affected. I have told the students today how proud I am of their efforts so we will have a Wildcat Spirit Day tomorrow in response to the amazing way our students worked together to help those in need!

This year we will concentrate on a virtue each month to help our children focus on various areas of spiritual and emotional growth and to encourage our students to become well-rounded, faith-filled individuals. The virtue for September is Friendship. It was the center of our opening Mass yesterday where we recited our Kindness Pledge and talked about ways to be good friends. Friendship will continue to be the focus of various classroom lessons this month. I hope that your children have had a wonderful start to the school year and that old and new friendships are forming and growing every day!

Scantron testing will begin next week for students in grades 3 - 7. Please have your students come prepared and ready for the testing by arriving on time and encourage them to put forth their best efforts. The data we receive from our standardized testing helps us to help them improve in the areas of Math, Reading, and Language Arts.

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for Back to School Night this year. Please join us for the PTO General Meeting on Wednesday September 13th at 7:30 in our library. Our guest speaker is coming from Generation Code in Vienna.

I wish you a wonderful weekend and thank you again for making all of us here at OLGC so proud!

Adrianne Jewett, Principal
