Good News 5/18

Byline: From: Austin S. G. Poole

Dear Parents,

Many thanks to Mrs. McCarthy and all of the CYO track coaches for their dedicated commitment to our program and to our students through rain and shine. Congratulations to all of our students who represented OLGC so well.

Our 8th graders also represented our school at the Diocesan Shakespeare Festival with distinction performing their unique version of Taming of the Shrew.

The number of students who are tardy on a daily basis continues to rise. Please make the adjustment necessary in your family schedule to ensure that your children arrive on time for school.

Many thanks for your continued support of our school and our teachers.

Austin Poole, Principal

Classroom News: Last week the 3rd graders celebrated their study of the United States with State Fair. We want to thank Mrs. DaSilva and Mrs. Lopez along with all the other parent volunteers for making the day special for us.

First grade participated in the Qrius?Jr program at the National Museum of Natural History on Tuesday. The children ooh-ed and ahh-ed at seeing the Washington landmarks on the way. In the docent-led program, they classified a variety of minerals by testing their luster, streak, hardness, color, and magnetism. They had free time to visit dinosaur bones, butterflies, ocean and land wildlife, and diamonds. Thank you to our parents for chaperoning and making this awesome trip possible!

Student Council News: Wednesday, May 24 is OLGC Day at Foster's Grille (138 Maple Ave in Vienna) from 11 am to 9 pm. 20% of all purchases that day will go to OLGC and Student Council's International Day project of St. Mary's Secondary School in Africa. When ordering, don't forget to mention you are from OLGC.
