    If I had the opportunity to take Pope Francis out to dinner, there is no doubt where we would go. It is a special place, casually known as KHS. They do not take reservations, yet there are often long lines waiting for the chance to be there. KHS, you see, is not the monogram of a famous chef or celebrity.   • A Journey Not Yet Finished - 2015 PTO Essay Winner

    As a curious young child, I was always very mindful and aware of my surroundings. I would study the color of the trees in the fall, observe the unique snowflakes that fell onto the window in the winter, and listen to the singing birds in the spring. Now that I am older, it is much more difficult to spend the time to notice all of these little things that surround me; it feels as if I’m only skimming a book instead of taking in every detail.

    My fondest memory at OLGC was field day at the tricycle race.

    I have done after school art class twice and House League Basketball.

    I love all sports.

    What or who inspires you and why?
    My dad and Rojon Rondo inspire me. My dad was a doctor in the Army, and Rojon Rondo donates money and helps kids who are disabled.

    What is your fondest memory from your time at OLGC?
    My favorite day at OLGC was State Fair Day. I had Virginia! I learned about so many other states. We did great crafts, ate food from around the country and learned so much about all of the other states. It was awesome!

    What is your favorite aspect of OLGC?
    I like OLGC because of the great teachers and lots of fun friends.

    Who is your favorite teacher and why?
    Well, I have two. My first is Mrs. McCleary because she always makes you laugh and always puts a smile on everyone’s face. My second is Mrs. Williams because in her class there is no way you will cry, she always makes you happy.

    I am the oldest of six kids.

    My favorite teacher is Mrs. Saied because she teaches everyone all types of songs and is very kind to everyone.

    I am in choir and I play soccer, basketball and I swim.

    I LOVE Marvel comics and superheroes.

    Jane Goodall and J.K. Rowling because they never gave up on their dreams to help animals and be a writer.

    What is your fondest memory from your time at OLGC?
    One of my fondest memories at OLGC involves my prayer partner. When I was younger, I had an 8th grader and she was the best! I still keep in touch with her. Then when I was a bit older, I was assigned to be a prayer partner with a kindergartener. That was special too!

    What is your favorite aspect of OLGC?
    Some of my favorite aspects of OLGC are the teachers, doing special projects each year, such as; State Fair Day, Colonial Day, and Biography Day, and leading school Masses with my class.

    Who is your favorite teacher and why?
    I know that this may sound like an excuse, but I really can not pick! I have had the best teachers and I am always sad to say goodbye at the end of the year!
